Between The Lines session

We had the privilege of hosting Advait Kurlekar’s Between The Lines session, which delved into the captivating stories from CanDid, our book spotlighting the sciencepreneurs at Venture Center.
Three out of the fifteen entrepreneurs featured in the book – Parul Ganju, Nuriel Pezarkar, and Renuka Diwan – took the stage and talked about turning their scientific ideas into business ventures. They shared their experiences, from scientific breakthroughs to corporate landscapes, offering interesting insights into the synergy between science and entrepreneurship. The book’s author Ramakrishnan N could not join us physically but had recorded a message about his journey and experience of working on this book.

Let’s demystify AI and ML

Unlocking the Mystery of AI & ML: A Journey of Discovery with Ravi Khare

The Venture Center library had the pleasure of hosting Ravi for a session on Demystifying AI/ML

From understanding the fundamentals of AI and ML to pondering who truly becomes intelligent, learns, and teaches in this digital age, we left no stone unturned. We even dove into the realm of Reinforcement Learning and how AI is trained, shedding light on the inner workings of these fascinating technologies.
But perhaps the most profound takeaway from our session was this: amidst the hype and excitement surrounding AI and ML, it’s essential to remember that the true sources of joy often lie beyond the realm of algorithms and data. As our speaker aptly emphasized, many of life’s most precious moments don’t require AI or ML—they simply require human connection and genuine experiences.
So, as we continue to navigate the ever-evolving landscape of technology, let us not forget the power of simplicity, human connection, and the joy found in the little things. Together, let’s embark on a journey of discovery—one where the wonders of AI and ML are met with a deep appreciation for the beauty of human experience.

Book club meeting on”CanDid” by N. Ramakrishnan.

‘CanDid: Inspiring human stories of resilience, perseverance & focus from sciencepreneurs at Venture Center’

Candid, a Venture Center-published book, follows the journey of 15 start-ups. To share the same trip, we have chosen the book Candid for discussion in the book club, which reveals the step-by-step success journey of entrepreneurs.

Discussant Neha enlightened the engaged audience with a very great explanation of the inspiration and desired behind this book. The journey of coming up with the idea for a start-up, the hard work and self-belief, and the realization of the start-up were discussed.  The session turned out to be really enjoyable and informal. During the event, several interesting and humorous anecdotes of young start-ups were shared, including how they came up with the idea, how they implemented it, and how they received support from their families. The reason and motivation for naming a startup was explored as well. A woman’s path as an entrepreneur reveals constraints, family opposition, and much more. Participants also shared their experiences. In such a way, the book club was extremely entertaining and enlightening.

Talk on “How To Build Your Social Media Strategy From Scratch,”

Venture Center Library organized an enlightening talk by Mrinalini Sanchan on “How to Build Your Social Media Strategy From Scratch,” on 19th January 2024

Here are the top 3 takeaways from this talk:

1. Content is NO longer king: It’s the emperor now! Quality content is the bridge, but engagement is the destination. The journey through cyber space taught us that it’s not just about what you say; it’s about how you make your audience feel.

2. Importance of knowing your customers: The more you know, the more you grow! Tailoring content for your audience is the secret sauce. Understanding their needs, desires, and digital habits is the compass that guides you to the heart of your community.

3. Patience, Persistence, and Consistency: The Holy Trinity of Cracking Social Media! Rome wasn’t built in a day, and neither is a robust online presence. Shoutout to Mrinalini for reinforcing the power of endurance in this dynamic journey through the cyber wilderness.

Fireside chat with Dr. Madhur Motwani on ‘Overall Wellbeing and Happiness’

We had an insightful talk on ‘Overall Wellbeing and Happiness’ by Dr. Madhur Motwani on the occasion of ‘Mental Health Week’ organized by Venture Center Library. Dr. Madhur offered some of his perspectives and data on overall well-being. Madhur is certain that our ‘gut microbiome’ is an underappreciated organ that can be taught with food to regulate chronic inflammatory disorders, including some that extend beyond the gut. He also emphasized the function of the ‘gut-brain’ axis in fostering mental well-being and revealed his approaches to mental health talks as a scientist.

Knowledge sharing session on Impactful Data Visualization: Hide and Seek with Graphs

Namrata Salwe and Vaishanvi Pote presented a knowledge sharing workshop hosted by the Venture Center Library on improving your understanding of data charts and graphs. The presentation did a good job of presenting basic graphs and charts.

Author Talk by Dr. Chirmule on ‘Good Genes Gone Bad’

Beyond the headlines of successful drugs lie untold tales of perseverance.

The Venture Center library had the privilege of hosting an Author Talk by Dr. Narendra Chirmule on ‘Good Genes Gone bad’

He took us through interesting stories and anecdotes from the book. He dwelled on why he wrote the book and why it is important to note the good times and the bad as human beings.
